Job Title:  Estimator
FLSA Status: Hourly Non-exempt

Job Summary
Forecasts costs for new projects. Gather details and compile data to estimate all sales costs based on specifications. Considers current economic conditions that may affect the organization's ability to sell its products or services in the marketplace.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain confidentiality of the company’s proprietary information
  • Prepare work to be estimated by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents
  • Identify labor, material, processing, assembly, testing and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents
  • Compute costs by analyzing labor, material, processing, assembly, testing and time requirements
  • Resolve discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information
  • Present prepared estimate by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information
  • Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
  • Maintains cost data base by entering and backing up data


  • Consistently display a sense of urgency in meeting all deadlines and goals, keeping in mind that quality and timeliness are of paramount importance to management and our customers
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Must have very acute attention to detail
  • Very strong computer skills with the ability to work quickly in software programs such as JobBoss and MS Office Suite
  • Ability to perform shop math skills efficiently and accurately (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals)
  • Skill in reading and interpreting documents such as travelers, blueprints, etc.


  • 2+ years’ experience in a manufacturing or project management environment
  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Business or Operations Management preferred
  • Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within an aerospace manufacturing environment preferred

Physical Demands/Work Environment

  • Occasional exposure to indoor manufacturing environment
  • Occasional exposure to chemicals, fumes and moderate/loud noise
  • Frequent repetitive motions and ability to sit at a work station
  • Constant requirement of specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to focus.
